Founded in 1983 and celebrating more than 40 years of building, FPH Construction has grown into a trusted name in commercial construction throughout the Kitsap Peninsula and the broader West Puget Sound region. One of the things that FPH is most proud of is as they’ve grown, they are big enough to handle most of the construction needs of their community, while remaining committed to focusing solely on growth in their community and partnering with businesses to grow their community.

With decades of experience behind them, the company has earned a reputation for delivering reliable, professional service on projects of all sizes, while primarily focusing on light commercial construction. Under President Michael Brown and SR. vice-president Kerry Chamberlin, FPH remains a locally rooted, community-focused business that combines practical knowledge with a commitment to high-quality results.
FPH Construction offers a full suite of services tailored to commercial clients. Their work ranges from building brand-new facilities to renovating existing buildings so they better meet a business’s needs. These include ground-up construction, interior and exterior renovations, tenant improvements, fire damage restoration, and comprehensive site development. The company also assists clients with planning and permitting, as well as compliance in areas like stormwater management. Whether it’s a new Medical or Dental, retail space, an office remodel, or a restaurant build-out, FPH adapts to the needs of each project with attention to detail and cost-effective solutions.
The company serves businesses in the medical, dental, retail, office, food service, warehousing, and light industrial sectors. With project budgets ranging from small-scale upgrades to multi-million-dollar developments, FPH is equipped to handle a broad range of commercial construction needs.
Surrounded by water for the most part, Chamberlin notes that FPH Construction operates in a sort of niche market. The Kitsap peninsula being surrounded on three sides by water and can be challenging for Seattle-based builders to get to with only a few highways or ferries to cross the water. “That gives us a competitive advantage from a logistics perspective, which we can pass along to our clients from our local knowledge.”
“Most of our work through the years has been referral or repeat business,” Chamberlin says. “Being on the Kitsap peninsula we choose to live in and work here, which allows us to do a wide range of commercial construction projects. We have built countless dental and medical facilities, whether from the ground up or tenant improvement,” FPH has completed hundreds of projects in those two industries. “People tend to feel more comfortable knowing that we’ve been a local builder in the area for more than 40 years and are a company which they can trust to be around for future needs”.
Beyond its work in the field, FPH Construction is deeply invested in the Kitsap Peninsula community. The company supports several local nonprofits and civic organizations, reflecting its belief that strong businesses help build stronger communities. This blend of technical capability and civic mindedness is what continues to set FPH Construction apart.
“We’re proud to be rooted here. We believe in being a strong supporter of the local community and we take our responsibility as local citizens very seriously.” Over the years, FPH has supported a number of charities, including the Boy and Girls Club, the Boy Scouts, Make a Wish, the YWCA, North Kitsap Fishline and many more with work including housing improvement projects and wheelchair ramp enhancement projects on homes and businesses.

“Our area is also surrounded by three military bases, so we’ve done a lot of work for our veterans,” Chamberlin says, noting he was the project lead on the Veteran’s Memorial project, which saw concrete and metal work contractors erect a monument for the local veterans. In addition, one of our favorite projects, which is featured as the cover image on our homepage is the Veterans Plaza, which is a medical facility for Veterans who previously had to drive an hour to Tacoma for medical care.
Other high-profile projects include Silverdale Auto Works, which saw FPH convert an old horseshoeing shed outfitted with six garages and an abandoned house used as an office, into a brand-new facility in order to attract a broader range of clientele. “People are a bit reluctant to take their expensive vehicles to a garage that looks like it’s falling down,” Chamberlin says. “We worked with the client and the county and were able to achieve a very high-tech auto facility so that people are comfortable bringing their vehicles there, well beyond the level of service of what the dealers can provide.”

Another important project was an interior remodel of a surgery center that was actively seeing patients, is another example. This project was completed in nine different phases, which required a lot of coordination with the owners to keep a critical organization operational during construction. Chamberlin and his team successfully completed the project and secured a repeat client.
As it turns out, after more than 40 years in business, repeat clientele is nothing out of the ordinary for FPH Construction—something Chamberlin chalks up to the company’s reputation and how it establishes relationships with its clients. “They [the clients] feel that they can trust us, and we can trust them,” he says. “We work as a team and a partnership so that they can reach their needs and goals, and we can provide an honest construction company to them.”
Internally, FPH Construction has cultivated a workplace culture that values teamwork, transparency, and a shared sense of purpose. Employees across all levels—whether working in the office or out in the field—are encouraged to collaborate closely, communicate openly, and take pride in the work they deliver. This unified approach helps ensure that projects run smoothly and that everyone feels a sense of ownership in the company’s success.
This approach, unsurprisingly, has led to many ongoing partnerships with clients. In fact, such is the power of referral, the company didn’t even have a dedicated marketing department until recently. As Chamberlin explains, relationships and serving their clients to the highest possible level are what’s most important. “We’ve been successful from a lot of word of mouth and our reputation of performance for repeat business. Do what you say you’re going to do and treat people fairly. This community is pretty small, and it all comes down to integrity, honesty, and standing behind your word, which is something we have always practiced.
“We’re looking to expand and to grow,” he says. “We have several employees that have been here between 10 and 20 years and we want to keep the quality of the employees we have. I hire more for personality and who they are as a person versus their skill groups; We want our customers to feel comfortable around our team. I hear this quite often from our clients. I feel this is always a major success. It’s all about quality and working with people you can trust.”
“We’re optimistic about the future,” adds Kerry J. Chamberlin. “I had the opportunity to join my dad and carry on the future of the company, and I think that having the partnership we have, coupled with his knowledge and the longevity of our team has given our team a lot of excitement for the future. Having a structure for a succession plan allows us to identify our key players who want to keep this company alive for another 40 years.”
